My new in-laws invited my me and my husband to Chicago from our home in Wisconsin for a visit. I was very nervous staying with his parents for the first time. We had only met once before. They came up to Wisconsin the week before our wedding and helped with all the last minute details for our small wedding. We got along just fine, but that was in my territory of the world. I have lived in a small town in Wisconsin all my life. Our big evening out was going to a bar and doing some line-dancing. I had never visited Chicago before and was leery of its reputation. It would be so different than my small town. My husband travels a lot for business so living in a small town gives him the peace and quiet he needs after working and traveling. He says he gets tired of all the hustle and bustle of big cities. My in-laws made me feel very comfortable in their home and introduced me to all her friends. They had plans for almost every evening so I could see all the exciting sites of Chicago. What most impressed me was the wonderful Chicago entertainment available to us. My fears about getting along with my in-laws and about Chicago itself were all melted away.
