My twenty-five year old niece came to live with me for a time while she looks over Chicago. She was offered a new position here and wants to make sure this move would be good for her. After living and going to college in Stevens Point, Wisconsin all her life, she was afraid of the big city. She asked me if I would be able to show her around the city, explain the bus and subway and elevated systems and visit places of importance. I was excited to have her come stay with me and wanted to show off this beautiful city of ours. After doing everything I could think of to help her make her decision on the job situation, I decided we both needed some fun. I wanted to show her how extensive Chicago entertainment was. After all, all work and no play makes Jill a dull girl. I started by taking her to Navy Pier to see the rides and attractions there. She loved the fireworks! She inquired about dance places and we found so many different genres it made her head spin. There were places for rock, blues, jazz, soul, salsa, rhythm and blues and more. Although she still hasn’t made her decision, she has all the memories of our time spent together.
