I’ve been playing, listening to and loving music all of my life, but lately I’ve been having a lot of trouble coming up with anything new and exciting. It’s almost as if all of my inspiration and motivation were fading away. Then I accidentally stumbled upon this bizarre website called Overclocked ReMix, and it’s really given me some new drive. The site is dedicated to the music of video games, which just so happens to be another passion of mine. I guess that I, like many other people, didn’t pay very much attention to the music streaming through the background of my favorite games as I was playing – in fact I can remember several occasions when I was playing, where I would turn down the volume on the TV and put on other music in the background. After spending a little time listening to the original remixes that the musicians on the site had put together I gained a new found respect and appreciation for this form of music. I don’t know whether it was the nostalgia of it all, or just listening to all the creative things these talented people had done with sounds that I had been ignoring, but I feel like all of my ambition and drive have come back and I can’t wait to pick up my keyboard and start creating again.
